If you’ve never tried foam rolling, you should. By foam rolling (the act of foam rolling is known as self-myofascial release) your muscles, blood flow increases and muscles relax. Outside talked to a doctor who gave his two cents on when and how to foam roll.

If you haven’t been paying attention for the last week or two, Lance Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and has been banned from competitive cycling for life. This just in – living a healthy lifestyle and making exercise a priority in your 30s, 40s and 50s will help you later in life. A study was conducted and determined the risk of contracting conditions like heart disease, stroke, diabetes and others are lessened with increased exercise. Interestingly, the study was only done with work on a treadmill.

A new app called GymPact has come up with an interesting idea to keep you active. The gist of it is if you stay active and meet weekly goals, you get paid. If you don’t, you owe money. Is there a better incentive to dangle in front of people than cash? The new technology might take off now that they’ve partnered with RunKeeper, another popular online service.
